Anna Stanley's Will

Anna’s will was written originally, by hand, in March 1899, when Anna was living with her father, while Willard was in Cuba. The will infers Anna may have been ill. After her second son, David was born, she amends the will to include him.

A dear friend of Anna’s, this photograph was apparently Lena’s professional portrait for use in newspaper articles in the late 1890′s.

This jewelry was a bequest in Anna’s will to Lena Dohn. Today, it belongs to Lena’s grand daughter, Fay Rudolph Little, who photographed it with a dime to show its size.

From the left, Stanley daughters perhaps Anna and Lil, (Sarah Elizabeth), Maj. Joseph Wright (Anna Maria Wright Stanley’s brother), behind Gen. Stanley (seated). Lt. O. M. Smith. Lt. David Rumbough holding the horse upon which sits Blanche Stanley. Seated Mrs. Stanley, (Anna Maria Wright) and another Stanley daughter, perhaps Josephine. David Sheridan Stanley is on the horse to the right. Sarah Elizabeth marries Lt. Rumbough in 1886. The house was renamed the Pershing House in the 1950′s.
